About Us
Uppercut started out as Your Geeky Gal Pal, a one-person gaming and media blog dedicated to covering indie games and delivering pop culture criticism from angles Ty didn’t feel were being examined in the mainstream. As the blog grew in audience and team size, it became clear it was time to expand and evolve beyond the scope of YGGP. Thus, Uppercut was born.
Uppercut is a games and media site devoted to punching up through high quality content that focuses on highlighting marginalized voices and great criticism. We aim to do this by not only having a diverse staff, but also by bringing on and spotlighting other voices that are often pushed to the margins in mainstream games and media sites.
The Uppercut Team
Ty (he/they) is the Editor-in-Chief of Uppercut, the internet’s foremost monster fucker, and an all-star himbo. His love for games criticism and developing a space for diverse writers is matched only by his love of Battle Chef Brigade. Monti (she/her) is the Editor at Large here at Uppercut. She contributes video game reviews, spotlights indies on Indie Mixtape, and gives readers a glimpse of the western cosplay community. She likes street food, We Bare Bears, and is still on and off about kombucha. monti@uppercutcrit.com
