Mini Games You Might Have Missed: Tala and the Flower Seed

Tala & the Flower Seed is a teaser game for the upcoming Tala, a cute puzzle exploration game by The Garden Well and Matt Petrak that just went up on Kickstarter.

In Tala & the Flower Seed, you play as the titular Tala. Upon finding a seed in the forest, you enlist the help of other residents of your little mushroom town to plant and nourish it to see what grows. You explore the area, and solve puzzles to find the necessary tools to take care of your newfound charge.

To communicate with other townspeople, you have to interpret their image-based thought bubbles. There isn’t any written or verbal dialogue, so you have to figure out what people want based solely on the pictures in their thought bubbles. This adds a layer of challenge to the puzzles as you only have a basic idea of what you’re looking for which might not be the whole picture in practice.

The world of Tala is really lovely, featuring cute line art over more realistic imagery that gives the whole world a sort of simplistic Thumbelina vibe. This atmosphere is complimented by the acoustic guitar music by Cody Reuger.
