Games You Might Have Missed: Love on the Peacock Express
Love on the Peacock Express is a visual novel about solving mysteries and dating lesbian MILFs by trainmilfsgame for the 2017 Yuri Game Jam. If Dream Daddy left you hankering to make out with some hot moms, Love on the Peacock Express has you covered.
You play as a PI (with a name of your choosing) who’s boarding the Peacock Express for a vacation. As you enter the train, you’re introduced to the three older ladies you’ll have the option to spend time with. Due to a seating SNAFU, your character has to share a cabin with one of these aforementioned ladies. Once you take your pick, you start the process of getting to know them and solving their mystery.
Each lady has her own mystery, and they rely on you to untangle the truth. One play-through will get you through one story, so you’ll have to play at least three times to get the main storylines for each character. Luckily, each story is fairly compact, so three games aren’t a huge undertaking. If you really want to dig into it, you’ll have to play a few more times, as each character arc has two different endings.
The mysteries themselves, while short, are well done. They allow for both the player character and each mom to become fleshed out and likeable. Despite having no set name, the player character does have a set backstory and personality that are put on display through her interactions with her cabin mates. Through your PI skills, you uncover personality traits and histories attached to each of the women you spend time with. Without the backdrop of solving mysteries, these discoveries wouldn’t be possible.
It’s also nice to see a game so focused on women. There’s not a single on-screen appearance by a man throughout the entire game, and most of the side characters are daughters and sisters. While representation of trans women is definitely needed, there’s at least mention of nonbinary pronoun usage, which was a nice change of pace. A variety of body types and skin tones are also prevalent, which is more noticeable due to the small cast of characters.
Overall, Love on the Peacock Express is a fun, sweet game that mixes Dream Daddy with lower stakes Murder on the Orient Express. It’s a great palate cleanser in between all these big releases, and lets you enjoy the thrill of making out with hot MILFs. It’s available here for Mac, Linux, and Windows for whatever price you think is fair.
