Games You Might Have Missed-Home: A Unique Horror Adventure

Home: A Unique Horror Adventure is a pixel-art adventure game by Benjamin Rivers Inc. that finds you waking up in an unfamiliar house with no idea of how you got there, how to get out, or why your leg is injured. It’s up to you to determine how you’ll escape, and ultimately how the story will play out.

That’s the really cool thing about Home: how you play directly influences what you see, and how the game will end. Each area you go through has multiple doors, clues, and puzzles you can interact with. Which of these you check out influences what you’ll see and understand going forward.

While Home isn’t terribly scary, it’s definitely very creepy and provides a great spooky atmosphere. There are plenty of unnerving sound effects, and the pixel-art gives everything a retro-horror movie feel. The puzzles are nice because they’re simple logic, and are generally optional. If you’d rather jump than find a rope to get down a shaft, you can do that, and it will likely have an effect on how the story plays out for you.

If you’re looking for a spooky adventure that leaves reality up to you, Home: A Unique Horror Adventure is probably a good fit. It’s available for $2.99 on iOS,  Mac and PC (Steam, Humble Store, Itch) and $4.99 on PS4 and Vita.
